How To Create A Moving In Box

Posted in Sales

Moving day is invariably hectic and, although it’s an exciting occasion, it is usually quite stressful too. At the end of the day you will just want to relax, chill out and enjoy your new home but what happens when you realise a lightbulb’s gone, the children are moaning that they are hungry and your phone battery is at 1%? This is where a moving in box comes in handy! Your box will contain everything that your family need to enjoy their first night in a new home whether you are tenants or homeowners. We’ve had a chat to some of our customers who have moved home recently and put together some of the essentials that you should include…

Toiletries

Lugging heavy boxes and furniture around can be hard work and you may want to end the day by easing into a warm bath. Make sure that your moving in box includes shower gel, bubble-bath , and of course your toothpaste and toothbrush as you don’t want to be in a panic searching for them just before bed time. Towels and toilet roles are also personal essentials that you won’t want to be without for your first night as well as any medicines you may need.

Kitchen Essentials

The first thing you’ll probably want to do once the front door is shut and the removal men have driven off is to sit down with a nice cup of tea! Pack a kettle (or a travel kettle) teabags, uht milk cartons and mugs in your box and of course include some tasty and handy snacks too. It’s very unlikely you’ll feel like cooking at the end of such a busy day and so a selection of local takeaway menus is a must have. If you don’t want to unpack crockery or worry about washing up some paper plates can be also be a life saver.

Practical Tools and Essential Paperwork

Although most vendors like to leave their homes in good condition unfortunately you may find that a few odd jobs need doing when you move in. You don’t want to be left in the dark so pack some lightbulbs and a multipurpose screwdriver for any quick fixes that need attending too. Some antibacterial wipes are a good idea to run over surfaces and of course items such as a phone charger are also invaluable. A torch can also be a good idea too. We always recommend that when you pack you keep a plastic wallet aside for all of your key paperwork so that you know it is always safe and secure and available quickly should you need it.

Don’t Forget To Celebrate!

As well as all of the practical things you will of course want to celebrate being in your new home so make sure you pack some treats! Sparkling champagne is always welcome. Of course when you buy or rent a property with Wright we provide our clients with a little something to welcome them to their new home too when we hand over the keys. It’s always a really special moment for us and for our customers and most of our team say that it is one of the best parts of their job!
