Cont...-The close has a mixture of families and we have friendly neighbours who look after our property when we are on holiday. They water the garden, check the post and keep a general eye on things and we do the same for them. Living at 37 Poppyfields has given us the best of both worlds - near to town for shopping, trains and cinema but also access to lovely countryside for alternative leisure activities. We hope whoever makes our house their next home, enjoys living here as much as we have.

About Panshanger-Panshanger was a large country house located between the outer edge of Hertford and Welwyn Garden City. It was originally owned by Earl Cowper who later became Lord Chancellor of Great Britain. After seven generations, with no heir, the estate was sold and demolished c.1953
Panshanger Park is presently owned by Lafarge. Although Panshanger House was demolished, the orangery, nursery garden wall and stables remain along with a number of other cottages and estate buildings, all of which are listed by English Heritage. Residential housing was established in the area in the seventies.
Moneyhole park playing fields and Panshanger woodlands are within walking distance.
Local amenities include a small parade of shops including a Doctors surgery, Chemist, Post office, Hair salon, Beauticians. There is also a Morrison’s supermarket and petrol station.
Buses into town are every half an hour, Monday to Saturday.

What the current owners say...-The Poppyfields area of Panshanger in WGC is a pleasant and leafy part of the town to live and we have enjoyed our 11 years here. Number 37 is in a small, quiet close of five houses that is traffic-free and very child friendly. No through traffic means that it is safe for families and pets, yet a pathway gives easy access to local shops, a supermarket and the three primary schools within walking distance. The local church hall provides a base for toddler groups, ballet classes, Rainbows and Brownies and even dog training and we feel we are ideally placed to be part of the wider community. We have enjoyed visiting the nearby Moneyhole Lane park where there is something for everyone, including links to cycle paths, country walks and bridleways. Using these walks has taken us to country pubs and we have often walked to Tewin and Letty Green when the weather has been kind. There is a good bus service into town and we welcome the easy access to the A1 for our travels north.-
